Indo – Italian talks to be conducted in New Delhi
The Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte will be making his maiden visit to India to be a part of the Indo – Italian talks which will also see the participation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi. These Indo – Italian talks will be aimed at boosting cooperation in important areas like trade and investment.
During the Indo – Italian talks, Giuseppe Conte will also be participating in the twenty-fourth edition of India-Italy Technology Summit that is being organised the Department of Science and Technology (DST). The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will also be partnering in the hosting of this summit.
This summit will be directing its focus on areas such as aerospace, clean technology, healthcare, renewable energy, and education and information technology.
The Indo – Italian talks will, however, focus on discussing the boost trade and investment. The bilateral trade between the two countries has increased to USD 10.5 billion in 2017-18 from USD 8.8 billion in the previous year.
The importance of Indo – Italian talks
India holds Italy close as it is its fifth largest partner as far as trade us concerned in the European Union and the turnover between the two countries annually is USD 10.4 billion for the fiscal year 2017-18. India has more than six hundred Italian companies operating in its territories. The Indo -Italian talks are going to be a huge boost in the relations of the two countries. This is an important step taken the government to ensure its foothold in the international relations, especially in the European Union. India is currently one of the only Asian countries pursuing active relations with the European Union. In fact, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making sure that we do not stay limited to a particular corner of the globe. The centre is dedicated to establishing and maintaining relations with other governments all over the world. These ties are benefitting us in terms of trade mainly and leading us towards global domination.
